reasons to be pretty

I don’t understand why people go out of their way to point out the obvious. Social norms are what they are for a reason. They are there, and they exist, and we all measure ourselves against them. So when you are told something about yourself or about another that you already acknowledge, what is the value in it? I’m not talking subtle here. I’m talking about it’s-staring-you-in-the-face you-can’t-sleep-at-night-because-of-it type stuff. I don’t get it. The things we all measure ourselves against are there. They’re not going to go away. You’re always going to see the greater thans and less thans and you’re going to react. Pointing out the obvious doesn’t make you seem smart, douchebag. It makes you seem like a douchebag.
