@daniel You have insulted Anya terribly, terribly: she knows French far better than she knows Mandarin =) She’ll say more if she wants too.

I recommend Feed Demon, knowing you are on Windows. You can enable online sync as well, in case you have a mobile or other computers you want to use — so you do not have to re-read the same things again. Great application, free as of late.

GoogleReader fan here, too, but I don’t often find myself on the computer without a connection. That’ll probably change in the next few weeks. So what standalone readers do you recommend?

@anya I didn’t know that you spoke French as well as Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese?). I have a friend who you should probably meet—he’s also trying to keep those two languages practiced.

@keenan I do know for a fact that Anya much prefers an application-based reader. I can understand why people are attracted to web aggregators, but for me a lot of the joy of RSS is to read things when I’m offline. I don’t even want to think about the good times I will have come June and the sure-to-be-made RSS client for the iPhone.

@anya I shall set some time aside next week to show you more ropes? Maybe… a puppet-show in the making? You tell me when you can meet (you are the one with the more diverse social agenda, as it were.)

Google Reader is a surprisingly good RSS reader that doesn’t suffer from that issue… ;)

I actually prefer it to every standalone one I’ve tried.
